We know Terry & Mai were really looking forward to their Hawaii destination wedding. While photographing them in the weeks before, all I had to do was drop the H-word to get Terry smiling all silly.
I really hope these memories continue to bring back those silly smiles.

Congratulations Terry & Mai!

{ Terry & Mai } Married to be continued...
Having known Terry since he was a young lad at the age of 16, it truly was an honor to be a part of Mai & Terry's wedding ceremony. Terry was absolutely right when he mentioned to me how you have such talent, and a good eye when it comes to capturing a moment, and it truly shows in these photos. Clearly, Terry had made the perfect choice in choosing you to capture the most special moment in his life.
(11.22.09)I'm speechless......Mai & I relived the moment.....Thank you so much Jean.....
(11.23.09)wow, looks like it was a lovely wedding! i love your pictures! you are an amazing photographer, jean!
(11.23.09)
simply beautiful!
(10.19.09)um, WOW. can i just say, beautiful shot!!!
it looks like an ad! so pretty
(10.21.09)I do not believe you could have done a better job in this photo. I LOVE the amount of detail you have of her veil (I think thats what its called =P). I love how even parts of the veil that are not sharp still hold its detail in the entire image showing how delicate that article of clothing is. and that hair piece.. WOW. I think this girl is the only one that can pull that off and you were able to show that in your picture. AMAZING! Jean, I think you need to teach me now. Or at least sell me one of your 5D's so you can get a 1D Mark IV ^_~
(10.21.09)absolutely stunning!
(10.24.09)
Might I point out that my dress-cleaning alone cost $150. Amazing. AMAZING!!! Put me to shame, woman.
Terry didn't look too shabby either. I loved the contrast detail on his collar. I have to say, their friends did a great job of floral arrangements, and set-up for the lovely couple. Terry's dad even baked the delightful strawberry cake, which I refused to share with Austin. And last but not least, they got an elegant black photobooth from shutterbooth for entertaining guests! All in all, two thumbs up!

The photos are truly amazing!
(10.16.09)Thank you! I was having some "amazing photography" withdrawal here. SO glad you have a blog. Keep posting :) *yay*
(10.19.09)To be VERY sincere, I really feel like Mai & I got orders of magnitude more than what we expected, honestly. I am truly grateful that we had your "eye" capture our special day.
People that know me well, know that I can always criticize something [or someone] constructively. And the only thing I can criticize about your work is that it is too damn good. ;)
You have a gift Jean, please don't take it for granted. My two cents: focus on expressing your vision & creativity, not on how your work will be recognized. Your art will speak for itself.
(10.20.09)Do you know where she got her dress? It's just GORGEOUS
(11.10.09)Yes, the dress is really gorgeous and so detailed. You wouldn't believe it! And it photographed so well. The bride told me about the place. Here are the details:
I got the dress rental from Elegant Bridal-Tuxedos-Florist in Westminster. It's very affordable in OC compared to our area. I rented it for $150. If brides want a brand new dress rental, it just costs another $100 extra, which is still great. You don't have to dry clean it either, just bring it back as it is. Tux rentals start at $60 (includes everything down to the shoes). In case you know of any brides to be, you can refer them there.
Hope that helps! Good luck :)
(11.11.09)I've been following your blog for some time now, and I am so impressed! I had a specific question: Would you by any chance know where Mai got her bridesmaid's dresses?
(07.29.10)
John and Michelle got hitched in San Francisco a couple months ago. They eloped in style so I tried to tell the story with a twist on the traditional. For instance, in lieu of table numbers, I photographed the room number. And instead of seating cards, I photographed the bread we had for breakfast at Acme - Michelle's favorite bakery during her culinary years in SF.
I could definitely see how San Francisco is one of those cities that become embedded in your hearts with nostalgia.
They put us up at the Hotel Vitale which was a beautiful, beautiful location with its mod decor. And I have to say, the rain shower was the BEST shower I have ever showered in. I think it inspired Austin to do something about our shower one day...in the not-so-near future. So thank you. I don't know if I'll ever experience a wedding like this again.

what a great wedding! Looks like you all had fun :)
(09.21.09)Jean these are seriously ah-mahee-zing. You are so talented! I love all of the shots of the dress (especially the first one) and the ring shot with the iPhone and the dogs were too cute! (09.21.09)Hooray for new entry! I don't even know where to begin! There is just so many images to choose from! I am in love with the shot right before the elevator one. Was that taken with a Tilt-shift? and I LOVE the one where the bride has her left hand on her shoulder; You really brought out her dress well! Can't wait to see more!

(10.22.11)

Great pics. LOVE the first one.
(11.24.09)Jean!!!!!! I don't even know where to begin!!! ( feel like I start every comment with 'i don't know where to begin' hahaha) So I'll start with my FAVORITE! I almost fell off my seat when I saw the image of the couple sitting with their back towards you at the beach! I am in love with simplicity and simplicity is at is finest in this image! No distractions, just the beauty and grace of the waves and the honor of sharing a moment in the life of this happily newly wedded couple!!! I feel like i'm actually sitting with them embracing the ocean breeze! My second favorite is the VERY NEXT ONE!!! I don't know how you did it but you made this image pop out of my screen! Image is so sharp yet still i feel like i'm living out a dream as i look at this picture! I CAN"T WAIT TO SEE MOORE!!!
(11.25.09)OH MY GOODNESS I can't believe I forgot to comment of the first picture!!! I don't even know what else to say about this one... by now you and all your readers should know to never doubt your talented eye in capturing the best!
(11.25.09)jean, you and austin are amazing, i have goose bumps just looking at these photos of terry and mai. the angling, lighting, and very natural poses make for a beautiful combination. terry is totally right, you truly do have a gift!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love your laid back yet very focused approached. you were able to take so many amazing shots that captured the couple's joy and love for eachother, and i'm convinced that your and Austin's unintrusive and comfortable style had a lot to do with that. it was really nice spending time with you both at the LA and Hawaii events!
